Whiteboard Chat

The chat allows all participants on a whiteboard to communicate directly while working together. Each whiteboard has its own chat, so conversations stay connected to the board they belong to.

Open the chat

You can find the chat icon in the upper-right toolbar of the whiteboard.

Click the chat icon to open the chat panel on the right side of the board.

All participants on the board can open the chat and read the conversation.

Send messages

Use the text field at the bottom of the chat panel to write a message.

You can send a message by:

Pressing Enter

Clicking the send icon

Messages are visible to all participants on the board in real time.

React to messages

You can react to chat messages with emojis.

To add a reaction:

Hover over a message

Select one of the quick emoji reactions

Or open the emoji picker to choose another emoji.

Emoji reactions help participants respond quickly without writing a full message.

Reply to messages

You can reply directly to a message in the chat.

You see when there is a Reply to a message and can always click on the original message to jump to it in the chat history.

This helps keep conversations structured, especially when several topics are discussed at the same time.

Edit or delete messages

The creator of a message can edit or delete their own messages.

This is useful if you want to correct a typo, update information, or remove a message that is no longer relevant.

Link whiteboard objects in the chat

Next to the message field, you will find a link icon. Use this option to link whiteboard objects directly in a chat message. Click on the link icon and select an object on the board. Then type your message and send it.

Once the object is linked to the chat, users can click on the link and jump directly to the object on the board.

This makes it easier to discuss specific content on the board. Linked objects help participants understand exactly which part of the board a message refers to.

Lock the chat

Board owners can lock the chat. When the chat is locked:

  • Participants can still see the chat history

  • No new messages can be sent

  • No new reactions can be added

This can be useful when a discussion is finished or when the board owner wants to prevent further changes to the conversation.

Clear the chat

Board owners can clear the chat history when needed.

This removes the existing messages from the chat and gives the board a clean conversation area again.
