Set the Start View of a Whiteboard

Define which part of the board your participants will see when they enter the board. 

In Collaboard, you can define the start view of a whiteboard. The start view determines which area of the board participants see when they open the project for the first time.

This is useful when you want participants to start at a specific section, such as a welcome area, agenda, workshop instructions, or the beginning of a process.

There are three ways to set or change the start view.

Set the start view when sharing a whiteboard

You can define the start view directly when creating a project invitation.

  1. Open the Share project dialog.
  2. Click Change start view in the top-right corner.
  3. Select the area of the whiteboard that participants should see first.
  4. Click Done to save the selected area.
  5. Continue creating and sharing the project invitation.

New participants opening the whiteboard for the first time will be taken directly to the selected area.

Set or change the start view in the settings

You can also define or update the start view at any time in the project settings.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to General.
  3. Select Visual.
  4. Under Project Settings, find Start view.
  5. Click Change start view.
  6. Select the desired area of the whiteboard and confirm your selection.

The new area will now be used as the start view.

 

 

Create a start view from selected objects

If the area you want to use as the start view already contains specific objects, you can define it directly from your selection.

  1. Select one or multiple objects on the whiteboard.
  2. Open the context menu of the selection.
  3. Select Start view.

Collaboard automatically determines an area around the selected objects and saves this area as the start view.

Important to know

The start view is always a fixed area of the whiteboard. It is not linked to the objects that were used to define it.

For example, if you select several objects and use them to create the start view, Collaboard saves the area where those objects are located at that moment. If you later move the objects somewhere else on the whiteboard, the start view does not move with them.

If the relevant content changes location, simply set the start view again.
